About THE PROJECT

Transcending Borders explores how local, state, and federal policies, laws, and media affect transgender, intersex, and gender variant (TIGV) immigrants in the US Southwest and Midwest. Focusing on highly vulnerable TIGV communities, we partner with local organizations to document legal impacts, organizational strategies, and individual advocacy. Using collaborative research and ethnographic methods, we aim to better understand and support TIGV immigrants, address geographic differences in their experiences, and amplify their voices for rights and dignity.
